The Several Processes of Stone Maintenance and Renovation

For experienced stone maintenance technicians, it is well known that small cracks can easily occur during the use of stone, especially in the decoration of the ground. There are many reasons for the cracks in stone, which may be due to the impact of heavy objects, or the corrosion of some material on the stone, or the natural weathering. Regardless of the cause, what the stone maintenance master needs to do is immediately fill the gaps in the stone.

For experienced stone maintenance technicians, it is well known that small cracks can easily occur during the use of stone, especially in the decoration of the ground. There are many reasons for the cracks in stone, which may be due to the impact of heavy objects, or the corrosion of some material on the stone, or the natural weathering. Regardless of the cause, what the stone maintenance master needs to do is immediately fill the gaps in the stone.

Use a joint filling agent to fill the gaps between adjacent stones with the same color, so that the stones can achieve a unified effect and increase the aesthetics of the stones.

Wax removal, cleaning, sufficient drying, filling of stone gaps, natural air drying, leveling, grinding, polishing, rust yellow treatment, protective treatment, crystal treatment

1. Wax removal and cleaning

We use a special waxing water for marble, and after comparing the performance of several waxing water at home and abroad, we have selected a certain brand of waxing water with the most suitable cost-effectiveness. Through water mixing and mixing, we have waxed the stone surface and brushed it with a dedicated scrubber. In order to prevent too much water from seeping into the stone surface, we scrub it while using a vacuum suction machine to remove water wax and stains.

2. Ground drying

This process is divided into two situations for operation.

① We use far infrared lamps to heat and dry the water stains on the original stone surface joints.

② The moisture on other surfaces should be naturally dried. As a result, the water stains have been completely removed, which is both economical and reasonable, and the customer is very satisfied.

3. Leveling, grinding, and polishing

Considering that the stone surface has been waterproof before, which caused discoloration of the stone, we did not directly use the method of leveling and grinding. Instead, we first used O # steel wire wool and specialized equipment to grind and remove the discoloration layer on the stone surface, revealing the original background color of large white. Fortunately, due to the low degree of penetration of the protective agent into the stone surface, we achieved good results by using the above solution alone, which effectively addressed the discoloration issue we were concerned about. The second plan is to use marble and diamond grinding discs, water grinding discs, and step by step polishing, which are prepared but not used.

4. Filling stone gaps

The use of joint filling methods to solve water seepage in stone joints is an important preventive measure. Attention must be paid to joint filling work. The joint filling material should have good adhesion, no powder particles, waterproof, and can be ground and polished. We have selected German super marble crack filling agent and filled the gap according to the process (the filling surface should be leveled with the stone surface, and the joint filling should be uniform to prevent omission.), and it should be dried and cured for more than two hours.

5. Rust yellow treatment

According to the overall plan, first polish the areas with severe rust spots with steel wire wool to remove surface rust, and then use marble rust remover for rust removal.

The rust removal process is as follows:

Clean the surface, dry, and wet the rusty surface. Apply white paper towels and a rust remover cover with plastic film to seal the surface. Time treatment: 3 hours. Clean with neutral detergent, wash with water, and air dry. (Rust that cannot be removed at once can be reprocessed.)

6. Waterproof and protective measures

In order to avoid future water stains, rusting, and other contamination of marble, the client has proposed our plan to apply protection to the ground after grinding. We have learned the lesson from the original protection against discoloration and selected several better waterproof agents. We have conducted experiments on the same stone to check the protection effect on one hand, and on the other hand, to check whether the color of the stone has changed, and to determine the process dosage based on the water absorption rate. After completing the above preparations, we conducted extensive protective measures on the ground.

We mainly focus on the following processes for protective treatment:

① Use stone cleaning products to clean the stone surface

② Fully dry

③ Apply protective agent evenly, moisten the stone surface thoroughly, and do not miss or apply too much to prevent accumulation. The former affects the protective effect, while the latter affects the aesthetics and increases the difficulty of cleaning.

④ Under natural conditions, ventilate and dry for more than 24 hours. It is necessary to emphasize that during the ventilation and drying process, special attention should be paid to waterproofing and dust prevention, as well as to weather conditions to prevent discoloration and protection failure of the stone caused by fog and rain.

7. Crystal processing

After reaching the advanced technology, we can proceed with crystal processing. We use Spanish crystal hardener, and according to the instructions for its use, the brightener is pressurized by the equipment and polished at low speed to produce a thermal reaction and form a non slip hard mirror surface on the ground. After crystal treatment, it is new and shiny, and the previous water stains, discoloration, rust spots, stains, etc. are completely removed.

8. Cutting and polishing

Stone cutting and leveling refers to using professional grinding machinery to grind and level the height difference between stone seams caused by installation or structural deformation.
